When it comes to children wearing protective eyewear for sports, it’s use (or lack thereof) is often determined by the parents under the child’s assertion that sports eyewear isn’t “cool,” and that their reputation and the ability to “fit in” (which is already a full-time job for kids) will be crushed if they are made to wear what’s right to protect their eyes.
Hey, we know it’s not easy being a kid, and it’s really not easy “fitting in” or even being “cool.” They may not object to wearing regular sunglasses, but these types of everyday recreation sunglasses are designed to block harmful UV rays, not elbows, objects and sports equipment. For sports and active play, dedicated protective eyewear is needed, no matter what the kids say. “Not looking cool” is NOT a reason to neglect wearing protective sports eyewear and risking eye injury should not be part of a popularity contest. However, we want to make your life easier by offering sports eyewear that protects AND looks fantastic.
