1929 – Founded in downtown Newark, NJ, Liberty begins manufacturing high quality eyewear. Originally called Eagle Optical Company, the company grows by leaps and bounds at the hands of its skilled workers.
1960 – Liberty becomes one of the largest optical manufacturers in the United States.
1976 – REC SPECS Protective Sports Eyewear is launched featuring exclusive athletic sponsorships from professional athletes, including some of the most beloved basketball players in the country.
1988 – Liberty begins direct distribution to independent and chain accounts in the U.S. and Canada, then expands to international markets soon after.
1999 – Liberty is selected as eyewear and sunwear license by Tommy Hilfiger
2000 – Liberty shifts its focus exclusively to performance sun and protective sports vision, becoming Liberty Sport.
2008 – Liberty Sport launches exciting new technology, including MagTraxion™ and Illusion™. Begins to sponsor “lifestyle” athletes.
2009 – Liberty Sport introduces Switch line of sunwear.
2013 – Liberty Sport continues to charge confidently ahead, offering its premium protective eyewear through its valued Prevention Center account base while continuing to develop the industry’s most technologically advanced eyewear and sunwear.
